One thing 2021 taught me is that moving by yourself in certain situations is key. For an artist a strong team is what can make or break you. As an independent artist once you get to a certain level where you're getting recognized by established artists and A&R’s you have to remember that you got their attention by being yourself. You created something that sparked their interest and you need to keep going. It's easy to get lost in your head and think you have to outdo yourself or outdo your competition but honestly, you just have to do what makes you happy. Once you turn your outlet into a job it gets frustrating (unless you're signed) Then it’s honestly the best job ever. Sometimes as humans we operate in a way that society tells us. We're told to humble ourselves or to be nicer, especially Black women. Black women are always afraid to be the villain and why is that? I think in 2022 and beyond, knowing your worth is also demanding of people to pay you respect. As an artist that means getting paid your worth especially if you know you're the best performer on the list. As a woman that means eliminating the narrative that we have to be less intense. Women never get to be in their villain era and most times that just means being direct and taking no one's BS. Men get to be direct all the time and I believe now that applies to women. You know what you bring to every environment and it's imperative that others around you know that. Personally I think that's how I manifest everything I want. I see what I want and I go after it no matter how big or scary it may be. I also know when I'm the best in the room and I don't downplay myself to seem more humble. I am very humble, but I also know that I have to be my biggest cheerleader.
The moment I started listening to multiple sources was the time that my career didn't perform as well as it has in the past. I realized at the end of 2021 that only I know what's best for me and my career. I think that's a part of having intuition, even when my health went bad I knew that I needed a certain diet and I also know what life path is perfect for me. I decided instead of college, I want to put my all into my EP because I believe it will bring me the abundance I desire. I know that my goal isn't to have a cap and gown in 3 years, my goal is to be signed by a label that supports my brand and vision. That’s because intuitively I know what's best for me at this time and I want anyone that supports me to know that it's not about following your dreams, it's about doing what you feel because our time on Earth is short and we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Society will always tell us what we should be doing at certain parts in our life when we should just be doing what we want to do. Everything is not black and white. There's multiple ways to get our desired outcome.
