Premiere: Time Spent Featuring Cunt Mafia

Time Spent has carefully showcased underground rap artists in Virginia, Baltimore and NYC through nostalgic VHS recordings of a cappella rap sessions. Their work has spanned from Mykki Blanco, to Abdu Ali, to Little Pain and most recently they hooked up with Cunt Mafia—a collective staple of New York's alternative underground. The video is set in the group's resident club on Friday nights—The Flat, in Brooklyn—and feature members Quay Dash and Count Contessa exude style, confidence and color, as they usually do, spitting deep-cutting, brash boom-bap flows. With the setting and pure New York style, it's reminiscent of Smack DVD freestyles (like this). Peep the video above

Photos: True Laurels + Abdu Ali

A couple weeks back, I interviewed my friend Abdu Ali for Frank 151, which went live last week (check it here). In the process of completing the story, we got together to take some shots, which, like everything with Abdu, turned into an entertaining situation. A big S/O goes to DUOX (from True Laurels Volume 1) for tossing us their studio and putting up with us for a couple hours. Check out the photos below and share them with your friends. Oh, and follow Abdu on Twitter: @AbduAli.
